About Studio Propeller
Studio Propeller curate, develop, manage, and produce projects with the creative and design sector. We deliver events, exhibitions, workshops, publications, business tools, and strategy. Our projects are self-initiated or developed in partnership with a network of collaborators, institutions, education, industry and government.
The Australian Design Unit - a joint venture between Parcel in Sydney Studio Propeller in Melbourne forms the basis of a core aspect of the business - being a publishing house and development agency for industry related content including the online business/design publication ADU, the design & entrepreneurship project Springboard and research & publication commissions for clients including the Creative Industries Innovation Centre at UTS in Sydney.
Studio Propeller was formed in Melbourne in 2006 by Creative Director Ewan McEoin. The studio draws upon strong networks and great collaborative relationships both nationally and internationally to enable the activation and production of projects that can enhance and stimulate the Australian design industry, or activate new international exhibition or business opportunities within the design and creative sector.
Ewan McEoin is a leading creative director, editor, writer and strategist in design. He is Creative Director of the Springboard Project and the Australian Design Unit, Director of Design Laboratory, Co-Editor of the 2008 Melbourne and Sydney Design Guides, and was the Creative Director of the 2008 and 2009 editions of the Victorian Government's State of Design Festival. He is a member of the external advisory board of the Design Research Institute at RMIT University.
