Chandler Burr – Scent Dinners 2011
Chandler Burr, the New York Times perfume critic from 2006–2010, is the Director and Curator of the Centre of Olfactory Art at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City. Burr is the author of the two definitive popular books about the perfume industry.
Burr hosts interactive Scent Dinners around the world; these masterclasses in gourmand scents are collaborations with the world’s best chefs, from Simon Lau Cederholm of Aquavit in Brasília, Vito Mollica, Ex. Chef of the Four Seasons, Florence, Samuel Benne of Lapérouse, Paris, to Fabrice Guisset at Las Ventanas in Cabo, Mexico, and Nicholas Schearer, Ex. Chef of the Four Seasons, Bangkok.
In December 2011 Chandler Burr will travel to Australia to present a series of two Scent Dinners and associated public talks as a fund raising partnership with Business for Millennium Development (B4MD). Propeller will produce these events.
The talks and Scent Dinners will provide a unique insight into the world of fragrance, learning about the artistry and skill that underlies the success of the world’s most renowned scents – from the hands that grow the raw ingredients to the genius of scent creation.

For his Australian talks and Scent Dinners Chandler Burr will place particular emphasis on the intersection between the fragrance industry and the producers of sought-after raw materials in developing nations across the world.
This focus highlights the finely balanced connection between the world of luxury and some of the poorest communities in the world, revealing how even the most sophisticated scent can touch lives and cultures in remote regions of the world.
