| State of Design 2008 In late 2007 we put together a joint venture team and successfully tendered to produce and deliver the Victorian Government’s annual design festival – The State of Design Festival. The festival is a major ongoing program that aims to demonstrate and communicate how design can create opportunities for sustainable innovation, generate new products and services and improves health and social conditions with economic benefit to Victoria. After winning the tender our Creative Director Ewan McEoin was appointed Creative Director of the State of Design and led the development of the brand strategy, the programming and the successful delivery of the event. Our program included a 3-day international design conference called Design Capital, a major new trade event for small design brands called Design Made Trade and an extensive program of public exhibitions and events called Design For Everyone. All of these events still continue to operate under the brands that were developed in collaboration with the team at R.Co. Overall there were in excess of 70 events under the State of Design Umbrella, which at the time was the biggest design event in Australia. It set the benchmark for the Industry and activated a series of small projects within the design community. The 2008 festival was delivered on time and on budget through a JV partnership with Australian Exhibitions and Conferences Pty Ltd and Winslow Solutions. The success of the 2008 event created the opportunity to continue working on the State of Design for 2009. www.stateofdesign.com.au |
